If you are a good home cook we are looking for people to join our team of relief cooks. This is particularly urgent in the light of the current crisis which may mean our regular housekeepers fall ill at short notice and need to self isolate.
Hours are 9am-2pm and 4-7pm and the kitchen is large and well-stocked. The position involves making a substantial lunch and a light cooked tea, which you would serve to the residents and clear away afterwards and clean the kitchen and dining room. You would also eat with the residents and be an important part of what is their main social activity in the day. You would be responsible for dealing with any queries that may arise during the day from residents or callers to the house, with back-up from the Committee if necessary. If you are booked for more than a day's shift you would need to plan meals and shop for the shift (Sainsbury's online). Training will be given but please note this is a VERY occasional position and we cannot guarantee hours so this is not suitable for those looking for a second income.
Currently masks should be worn while handling food and a self-certification form filled in regarding your current state of health.
Ideally you will have at least Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 and experience cooking for large groups including vegetarians.
This is EITHER a paid position (£10.55 per hour) or can be done on a VOLUNTARY basis.
